A slight flash the eyes have taken

Entering the third week of my work, I am getting used to the long standing hours, demanding guests and not being 'the boss'. Haha. Much has happened these couple of weeks. I guess getting a job, not just any part-time job, y'know, waitress-ing and folding clothes and whatnot. I have taken something most of my peers wouldn't have. Even though some may not approve of this job, or getting a job at all, deemed as a waste of time and has nothing to do with my 'future career', I'm sorta glad I've taken it, and I ain't letting it go anytime soon unless any unforeseen circumstances surface or the government demands me to go for their version of 'boot camp'. As clichéd as it sounds, but through this new experience, my eyes have been opened to more things in life like never before. I may sound like I'm exaggerating this fact, but it's true. I will only be working for a few months, so it's not exactly a permanent job. However, this experience illuminates the working world to my innocent eyes. It's intimidating but heck, it's reality. Yes, very, in fact, a completely different environment compared to school life. An entire different ecosystem! We have learnt in Literature to accept the reality despite how ugly and tough the true world out there can be because one day we are going to face the reality, no matter how long we continue to live in denial. This pair of innocent eyes had a slight flash of the future of a grown working woman in the rough, tough realm, possibly in about 6 or 7 years to come. It may seem like a long time, but the clock is ticking and the next thing I know, I'm already graduating with a degree, taking family snaps with the scroll and donning the graduation robe. The tough thing I have to figure out now is my pre-university path. I have cracked my head on what is gonna be of my hopefully sound future. I have seeked advise from peers and professionals. I just need a push to do it! So right after I get my SPM results *shudders* I will send in all the applications for various scholarships, domestic and international ones. Try my luck and wait for replies while I do my 'service for the nation', if I'm selected for the 2nd batch but since the official website is so low-graded, accessing for information is like finding a needle in a haystack!, so I guess I'll just wait for the good ol' snail mail to arrive at my doorstep, and see what I'm gonna do about yada-yada. So, in the mean time, I'll just go to my 8 hours a day, 6 days a week job.

Meanwhile, all I wanna do now when I return home from work is just SLEEP. Yes, day by day, I'm turning more and more into a lazy, slacking pig. Oink away people! ;)

Glee!

I'm sure many of you have heard of Glee now ever since the premiere of the Golden Globe winning series on Star World. I watched it since the premiere in US which was last September, and continued watching even during SPM! Glee is one of the best comedy/musical series so far, and it gradually gets better till the end of Part One Season One. Astro showed the Pilot episode last wednesday. So peeps, keep watching every wednesday 9pm on Star World.

In the mean time, catch a teaser of Kurt's rendition of Single Ladies!

Speaking of Glee, anyone feeling gleeful today? ;)

The History of 2009

At first I thought of penning down a penultimate post to the New Year. However, time doesn't permit, and so the many posts which are supposed to be posted did not make its way to the ranting range. So, 2009 is history. 2010 is the present. And the future lies ahead, waiting to be sowed with more life and drama. Hmmm, I think 2009 had its fair share of drama.

2009 was the year of many great things and also the not-so-good. It was the final year of secondary school for myself and my peers. Of course, the main subject of stress was SPM. Note, was SPM. Ha ha ha. It was also very depressing to leave our alma mater after the examination. Nevertheless, we managed to make that year the most memorable one.

I remember vaguely about the first few months of 2009. We were placed in new classrooms. The 5 Lily 09 was placed on the first floor of the Form Five block, and our immediate neighbours were 5 Orchid on the left (if viewed from the Upper Hall), and 5 Kekwa on the right.

This picture, courtesy of my sister (hehe), was taken from the Orphanage Hall during 7th Coy's Cooking Competition in the year of 2006. Somewhere on the first floor, far left, is my class! :)

I compiled the highlights for 2008. Well now let's compile it for 2009!

Let's talk about January 2009. I couldn't remember much about January. Maybe slightly. I remembered we did cleaning work for our Moral folio.

Oh yeah, there's the Pologround outing courtesy of Interact Club. Ha, oh that was fun.

And also since it's the first month of the year, we started out with momentous effort to keep up our Add Maths homework. Of course, that was only Progressions. Then, we began slacking and NOT DO OUR ADD MATHS HOMEWORK AT ALL. Hahahahahaha! This doesn't apply to all though. It was also the month to usher new members to clubs and societies and uniform units. The quantity and quality of active members for almost all societies have decreased. Many were loafers. But heck, how many kids actually care about the interest of co-curricular activities? ZILCH. Nevertheless, we had to proceed even though it's hard, given the fact that it's the SPM year. Ha, that was only the month of January. More to come.

WAIT! Another thing about January was the fact that we finally got the Rangers Gathering proposal signed and officiated! Yay us! The exco board had been doing research and stuff since October 2008. When the school started, we wasted no time and went straight to the BOSS (the Principal, of course) for approval of the gathering. And so we attempted to get her to sign the bloody thing. Oh, she can be a pain in the ass. After many sessions and arrangements, she finally penned her signature and it was officially approved! I remembered the gaiety of those that were there during the signatory. If I'm not mistaken there were myself, Eva, SY and Mabel. Like finally she signed that thing. Haha. It was a few days before the CNY break. Soon we began dividing jobs, collecting donations and yada yada. That was definitely a moment to remember. A start to four very busy months till 18th April 2009.

CNY was alright. Then came February. I was reading my blog posts on January 2009, I used to blog much more often before. And I had school! Now I'm just lazy I guess. Heh.
Nothing much interesting on the month of February. There was CNY, Thinking's Day and more gathering preparations.

Let's proceed to March instead! March was fun! I remembered,

Dissecting the poor amphibian

Sports Day with Marching and Cheerleading.

Proud me, holding the flag. ;)

I'm the cheerful package, far right.

And and and! Not forgetting..... JASON MRAZ LIVE IN KL! WOOOHOOOO!

Oh, that time was a blast! It was my first ever concert, and hell it was a really good one! He was so smooth with his wordplay and all. The fuss of rushing down to KL on a school day just to go to that concert was pretty damn worth it. Pre-concert, during concert and post-concert was awesome too. Spend a night at my aunt's place with sister and Mei Yann. Oh, that was real good entertainment. Long live Mraz!

And somewhere around March, the Photography and Journalism club issued its first newsletter with the name De Parchment. I've written several articles for De Parchment, nevertheless this brainchild of Eva was discontinued after two issues because of the lack of participation from writers and the juniors were not that keen on continuing the bi-monthly issue. Even so, they didn't have the creative juices flowing like we did.

And there was the Youth Leadership challenge by Sunway held in SMI.

Dawning to the month of APRIL, the month for the gathering. Like the gathering that we've worked our butt off for the past few months. As I counted down the days to the 18th, bugged my exco friends about the day as we were getting busier and busier day by day. Banners were painted, classrooms were cleaned, Rangers were out and about as we got closer to the gathering day.

I have to say that The Revolving Realm gathering was my main highlight for my entire secondary school life. It's like the thing y'know. Of course, it went successfully, despite the hiccups. Anyways, all I have to say is that this gathering meant alot to the exco. I've learnt many things throughout the process and during and after the gathering. I posted a really long blog post on the gathering; The Revolving Realm.

Not forgetting Interact's International Understanding Day, with the theme Give Peace A Chance. It wasn't that great. Maybe it was because the gathering was just 6 days away from I.U. Day. Well I gotta choose one which I prioritize most. And so did I.

Along came May, there's like mid-term exam. But still, Angelyn went playing, as usual.

Significant Project. Bring orphans out to have some fun!

And also at the end of the month was 02Kinta's Light in the Darkness gathering.

It was alright. At least we got the Overall Champion. Although it was only the size of a Thomas Cup. Last official gathering. Up to their standards I suppose.

And there was Coy Camp. Remember this rubble? Some of us would. The 'explosion' from the fire we built caused that. I was really petrified that time. Didn't know what to do with that. Surely some memory eh? Note to juniors: Use new zinc as base for the fire to avoid further complications like this one.

June June is here! Actually nothing much in the month of June. Other than the fact that I got selected for National Service (!!!). And the passing of Michael Jackson. Nothing much actually.

Same goes for July. Came and went just like that. I suppose the fact that SPM trials were drawing nearer at that time.

Although there was Law Olympiad held in Anderson. Which was really cool. We got a gist of Law. We witnessed a mock-trial. What's best was the fact that we were given tasks like a whodunnit etc. The tasks didn't really require the knowledge of law but rather the logic and reason of one's mind. Had a ball preparing for it with my fellow team mates Krity, Sel, Yoga and Rachel. Although we didn't win, but at least it's stated in my testimonial. ;)

A thing about these few months, alot has happened. The matters of heart, friendship yada yada. It sucks how I had issues in my mind through out the time, even till trials and eventually SPM. I'm glad that I've got things out of my head. Cleared some memory to store other more important data. Heh.

August! I was happy for several reasons. Heeee.

There was the lavish Interact Installation Day

Sister turned 21! Still hasn't been to a casino. Ha ha Amy!

September! *strangles meself*
Trials trials trials. OMG. I was really distracted that month. I should have set my mind on the exams. What the hell was wrong with me? Sigh.
Anyways, I turned 17 on the 24th September. Not exactly a big birthday bash, but it was my day.

October was more happening.

The hype of getting all gussed up for Graduation. It was so much fun. All of us were down right girly with the dresses and make up. It's really an amazing time where we had fun with friends and glam-ed up like no one's business. Definitely a memorable experience for us school-leavers.

Then there was Rangers Enrolment. Probably one of the most fun Enrolment ever. Thanks to the doodle idea that we came up with. Hehe.

We are a fun bunch. ;)

Of course, before we sank into our books, we had a lil farewell party organized by Yen Fong and gang. My first halloween party. Not bad either with the deco and everything. Their first successful activity. May it be as successful for other things as well......

Siren call! November's here!
As 18th of November drew closer, panic attacks and arson were high around that period of time. Some wonder why?

After a couple of gruelling weeks, pinafores were vandalised and books were donated to various book-buyers in order to mark the end of one's formal education. As for myself and most of the Science streamed students, we ended our SPM on the 8th December 2009 and bade farewell to our alma mater. As I recall, the final moments of sitting in the upper hall during Chemistry 3 was spent reminiscing the past five years in Main Convent. Oh what good times eh?

SPM done and over with! Right after we finished with SPM, the gal pals and myself hopped on a journey to the Pearl of Orient, also known as Penang on the 11th December 2009. Woohoooo!

We had fun at the beach....

Mixed and mingled with foreigners.....

and got a free bus ride!

It was all awesome flossom for that 3 days. The best way to part with friends. Definitely a memorable experience whereby 8 capable-in-taking-care-of-themselves-teenagers invade Penang island, Ipoh-style. There were drama, hooligan acts, and many Physics-related topics involved. But what's best about that trip was the absence of any adult. That definitely proved to the old folks that WE are so capable in taking care of ourselves. Phase One completed. XD. Next trip, Singapore in 2 years time? Lol

Just a week after that, I attended my cousin sister's wedding, from the traditional Chinese tea ceremony to the wedding dinner. It was quite uplifting as I came to a realization to understand the Chinese customs, something I was passive about the past years. Nevertheless, by attending the wedding, it sparked the hopeless romantic trait in me on how I wanted my dream wedding in the future and how I would want my husband-to-be to arrive at my room and unveil that veil and give a peck to his beautiful, glowing bride.
*slaps self*

Assisting the bride by glossy-fying her lips.

Bride's parents with the newlyweds

My Lambert-loving-fan girl-crazy cousin.

And just a day after, I hopped on a bus and went down south to S'pore S'pore! I love S'pore mucho mucho. My cousin sister claims I have a fetish for their public transportation, which is kinda true. Hee.

Spent Christmas there. Had turkey. *yums*

  Took a few cheesy pictures.

 Did silly acts.

Attended the Body Worlds exhibition. That is REAL by the way, through the plastination process.

Saw the fancy lights of Christmas in Singapore.

You know, I have the sudden urge to go and pursue my studies in S'pore. Heck, it ain't that easy. But anyways, I've been reviewing at least. Rather than waiting for the Form Six list to come out and just go to SMI or something. I don't know why. But I just have this strong intuition to go to S'pore, like instantly!

2009 was a wonderful year. It has its ups and downs. Relationships formed, broken, maintained, blossomed. A year of marvels and regrets. Though the positivity clouds the negativity. Some things that happened previously could be avoided in the first place but I believe things happened for a reason. It's just that we are unbeknownst to it. What is done is done. No use crying over spilled milk, or picking up broken glass. Live life to the fullest. Life is short. So, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Or as Eva says it, when life gives you shit, make fertiliser! Make the worse bits of your life and turn it into the best damn thing, no matter how deep the faecal level could be.

I've learned many things in the year of 2009. Drama made my year fulfilling albeit many painstaking events that took place. It opened my eyes a bit to a few things that I was oblivious to before. That year taught me many things. To manage a full event, to deal with difficult people, to solve problems of various levels of complications.

It was also a year to leave the school, very much like a nestling going to take flight. I will miss school. And the many shenanigans that took place through out. 2009 was an amazing year. I hope this is gonna be better. Be it I do form 6 here in Ipoh, or rush off to S'pore, cause I know great things will come to those who truly deserve it. Lol.

Do I have any new year resolution? Hmmm, I do. Still looking for my god damn purpose in life and other menial things. Hehe. I look forward to the many awesome flossom things ahead in the year of 2010. Cheerios!

The Puzzling Enigma Ahead

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift - that is why we call it the present.

What is to happen tomorrow is definitely very hazy. I can't see the paths that has yet to be taken. Some advised not to look too far ahead. Let the future be a puzzling enigma, for myself to figure out every piece there is to complete this riddle of life.

As all Fifth Formers are experiencing right now, our school life is over and done with. My previous post talks about the summarized memories of secondary school life. Very much summarized. Having to read Sue Li's note in Facebook struck thoughts in my head. As many know, at least friends who understood me, Angelyn Ho is a complicated, deep-thinking Homosapien. I don't tend to look at things in a simple manner. Well, this is just a trait in me. A permanent one. I may say it's a vice, but then again, it could be one of my individualistic trait.

The blurry roads ahead will remain blurry as far as I'm concerned. It's not getting clear anytime soon. It'll take a few years. I really wanna blog longer and of better quality (as this is just a short one), but time doesn't yield to me. As I have many other events ahead, e.g. Yuk Choy gathering, cousin's wedding, Christmas in Singapore and another wedding, there'll be longer posts with overloaded photos.

Ha! Another puzzling thing, I am awaiting for a call from Starbucks after I handed in my second applicant's form. I can be very persistent, so god damn it!, give me the bloody job! Lol.

Oh yeah, I haven't updated on the Penang Trip; 8 girls. 3 days. 2 nights. 1 island. :)

I'll be away in Singapore from 21st to the 27th Dec 09. Cheerios for now!

Hybernating session.

As one chapter closes

And it's time to pen a new one!

The chapter of formal education is finally over. After 5 years in SMC and 11 years of schooling, it has finally ended yesterday, at 3.30pm.

As SPM is gone and done with, I can't help but to think that time goes so quickly, and sometimes it's hard to believe that this part of your life has ended. Why I say so? Because yesterday during Chemistry Paper 3, I had a quick flashback of my secondary school life. Over a period of half an hour, I just stared at the blank space (although Anith was in my view), reviewing the life that I went through in Main Convent. All the moments where I was jumping around like some hooligan, or crying over a petty matter, or just plain chilling out with the girl friends, every moment just went by, in front of my very own eyes. The visuals formed were very real. It's like a movie trailer of Life at SMC or something. Amazing really, with all that has happened throughout these years. Be it good or bad. It's certainly quite a memory.

As cliched as it sounds, I feel so heavy-hearted to come into terms of ending school life. A few months ago, I just can't wait to vamoose from all the hullabaloo we call 'school', and enjoy hassle-free life. Well now that it's here, I don't wanna not go to school. I wanna wear my turquoise uniform and my dirty school shoes and sing lame, patriotic songs every morning. I wanna get to class and complain about the dirtiness. I wanna group up and ber-juice with my friends. I wanna go around the school looking for teachers. I wanna buy the fried chicken from the canteen. I wanna just hang outside the koperasi, going back to class late after recess, having my name jotted down in the yellow book by Pn Devi. All the insignificant matters that really made real significance now.

All the memories of school life, no matter how measly or unimportant it sounds, really did made a mark in this chapter. In fact, it's a crucial point of the synopsis of my life. They say that school life is probably one of the best times in life. Totally agree. So what for freedom, and getting up late every morning, and just do nothing but lazing around from 10 in the morning till 10 at night? Sooner or later, we'll have to make a choice. And yes, a very important decision that an adolescent has to make. The next step to tertiary education!

So where am I to go from here? Thanks to National Service that will be taking 3 months of my time. I think I'm very much inclined to taking Form 6. I'm absolutely cool with it. In fact, the inclined line is very much horizontal already. I suppose it's because I had already shut down all other options. I considered International Baccalaureate before. Refer to my rant about IB. It sucks to not know what I want. Right now, I don't have an aim in life yet. What is to become of me after this? Oh, what a bummer.

Anyways, I will definitely miss school a lot. After yesterday, I believe I won't be able to see most of my friends after this. Maybe during results day, but that's a long way to go. However, ever since the creation of social networking sites, and the internet as a whole, we can all communicate at any time and any place in any part of the world. :)

So a few last words to my beloved alma mater,

So long, farewell, I bid you say adieu. To the magnificent grand lady that stands tall, the mak cik's delicious ayam goreng, the skipping of classes for all sorts of reasons, and the memories recollected, sustained within the walls of Convent. All the good ol' days hanging out with friends and all there is to remember will be cherished. One chapter closes. It's time to pen a new one! One day, I'll look back and reminisce the young child at heart clad in a turquoise uniform
, walking along the corridors of the second home we came to know and love, and now, leaving with a heavy heart but with a chapter full of bittersweet memoirs.

The Halloween Themed Farewell

Guess what am I?

A sexy vampiress!

Okay, maybe not as hot as Bella.

or Jane the horny Devil

or Yean Kit the hot nurse that only treats guys,

but yeah, you get the point, I'm a bloodsucking vampire. *fangs*

And why are we dressed up in such way?

Because it's a Halloween themed Farewell party by the new batch of Rangers of 09/10

Let's just say it was awesome flossom. Pictures are all in Facebook. And it was certainly an event to spice things up before SPM. *shrugs*

Coincidentally, the farewell was on last Saturday, which was 31st october 2009, the actual Halloween Day!

Spooks up! Probably our first Halloween bash for most of us. :D

Featuring the other creatures of night of Halloween,

Eva the happy rockstar.

Soong Yi as a punk-lala chick and Christine donning a sleepwear look.

Jauhara as the Grim Reaper and Tara as a beach girl.

The rest of us, the hot nurse, the hot horny Devil, the mysterious figure, the angel of death, the vampiress, the black riding hood, the rockstar and the serial killer.

Yen Fong, the successor. She really did live up to what I said about making the farewell awesome flossom. :)

And check out Mabel's post on this event. Superb storyline created. :)

Hair, makeup, girly dresses and much more!

Actually the list goes beyond that. There's more to hair, makeup, girly dresses, and they are, shoes, clutches, accessories, eyebrows, shaved legs, contacts and much much more. These are the list of things we girls were concerned about for our graduation which was held 10 days ago.

Main Convent Graduation 2009
Date: 9th October 2009
Theme: Floral
Venue: Tower Regency, Ipoh
Fee: RM22 (food)

We girls talked about it for months. It's like a dream prom for us fifth formers. I have to say, this graduation is more of a fun get-together. We were dressed in our finest garbs with our prettiest of jewels and heels that kill, literally.

This was how I look on that day. Hair done by my cousin sister. Which means it was totally free of charge. I'd rather not spend money to go to some cheesy salon to get my hair all done in a Kraft-y manner. (Get it, the cheese brand, Kraft?) So if anyone likes it, and wants to get something similar, come to me to make an appointment on hair and makeup with my couz. XD. I love my hair. :D
My makeup is done by myself, though I have to say they weren't very nice. But once again, free of charge. haha. My heels were from Vincci and the rest were borrowed from my mama's. Hee. So actually in total, I spent about RM180 plus. including RM22 for food. My dress and heels are of the same price.

Hmm, I actually like how I look on that day. In fact, all of us were dressed to the nines. Everyone looked gorgeous.

The pictures are all over in Facebook. On that Friday itself, people started uploading that night after our function. The Highlights column in my homepage were filled with pictures with various titles bearing the Graduation.

Ramithaa! Voluptuous! :D

SY so sweet-looking right? She so lui yan di.
Maybe you can sing, 'You Belong With Me' to someone. Haha.

Aiseh, Eva so not cheesepuff here. Another one, surprisingly lui yan! XD

BAM! Oh I love this picture! Lol

The food was alright. But for RM22, I expect better food! Anyways, all of us were so hungry, we just rushed to the buffet table like hungry hyenas attacking on its innocent. The choices were not bad. For a hotel like Tower Regency, it's okay lah. Although I wished that they gave us more time because the servings were definitely not enough.

Our class performance, gone wrong later on.

BR's Jai Ho/Thriller dance. They won the Best Performance. They had so much fun, it was like a crime!

Even Mrs. Authar joined in the dance! LOL

My decent friends. From Cheah Kee whom I spent five years in the same class with, Krity for four years and SY for these two years. Good ol' friends. :)

Here comes the not-so-decent friend. Hahha, joking. The Sel Sel.

The uber-gorgeous Sab, my old primary school pal.

Bon Bon. :)

Syok sendiri with fellow Rangers.

Hui Ling in traditional Korean wear. I love this picture. I think it's the lighting. ;)

Tara and I, the two short stuffs in class. Hehe

Don't these two look gorgeous, rather than their usual silliness? Lol. While Sue Li looks on.

Stuck between the husband and wifey. Lol

Sui Ee, my Form One friend and till now as well. Miss her expressive antics. Lol.
And, I recognise those shoes.

The very normal, decent group picture.

Ha! Don't be surprised! So so love this picture man.

Later on, we walked to some Juice station for yum cha. Imagine, 7 girls dressed in fancy dresses, walked about more or less 500 metres from Tower Regency just for yum cha. We walked with confidence, despite the ongoing wolf whistles, strutting our way on the rough tar road with our high heels. The pain was excruciating but it was alot of fun! XD

The prices are pretty reasonable. I had some dragonfruit mix, priced at RM8.90! But not bad though.

And and and, I won an acoustic guitar from the lucky draw win! Hehehe. Thanks to my lucky number, 005, I got that which prompted me to learn some guitar skills after SPM. Like what Eva said, it's a sign that I should get a head start to be musically inclined.

The souvenir, a box. It's going to be another decorative item for me. Lol.

Trying to be a Taylor Swift wannabe.

If you could see that I'm the one who understands you,
Been here all along, so why can't you see?
You belong with me, you belong with me.....

I love that song till today. It really says what many girls are thinking. But sadly, some guys are too much of a dung-head to get it. Lol.

My current profile picture for Facebook. :)

I enjoyed Graduation so much. It's like the only day where I had SPM off my mind. From the trying of dresses, shoe shopping to makeup testing, it was a ball of fun. That was the last function for all of us. Although we were all dressed to impress, what's most important is the time we spent with our friends and the memories there were to reminisce. It's a nice thing to do before we all disperse to different parts of the world after we actually graduate from secondary school, after 11 years of formal education.

What a milestone. Looking at these pictures will definitely be a beautiful walk down the memory lane in the distant future...
