FIRST POST OF THE YEAR!
I've never been to University of Malaya (UM) before. When a friend of mine from Ipoh came down for work purposes at this PC & Book Fair at UM, I thought, hey, why not I pay a visit.
Usually, my ventures around KL, I'll go alone. At very rare times where I'll go with a group of friends. And especially when there are errands to run, I'll venture alone. As I mentioned, I've never been to UM. So, this fine afternoon, I gave it a try.
The whole day, it was drizzling. So it was rather cold, and a breeze to walk around. As I couldn't think of anyone to drag along to go to UM, I just went on with my initial plan: go to the place, hang around, visit my friend, then go back. Alone.
I took the LRT from Kelana Jaya to Universiti, and took a bus to the campus. At that time I've no idea how big the campus is, or at what stop should I alight. I got down, in the middle of nowhere. Not at the place where the fair was held (Dewan Tunku Chancellor), but instead, I got down at some hostel-looking place. Smart move, Angelyn.
I was wondering around that part of UM, don't see any hall in sight. I walked towards a building, hopefully to ask someone for directions (ultimate noobness). It looks deserted, and then I saw this young Malay guy walking from a distant. He was dressed rather smartly; tie, clean shirt and slacks. Seems like a decent young bloke. Seems like someone nice, who will help me with my directions.
I approached this guy, only to find out that the DTC is really far from where I stopped, and walking is quite a distance. So, he offered to drive me there. None of those rape/homicidal thoughts occured to me at that moment. I just wanted to get to my destination and be done with it. I didn't come all the way, and just give up.. I'm usually vigilant (teehee), and he seems like a fairly decent bloke, in no ways harmful to me. Ke ke ke. The ride lasted for about less than 10 minutes, so nothing bad happened. In fact, it was quite nice that I stumbled upon this good Samaritan. A good-looking one, that is. ;)
I know I'm dragging with this blog post. It's something small, but that made my day, among my usually mundane days here in college. So for what happened today, I was somewhat in cloud nine. No big deal, but I just wanna brag about something! Heheheheh. Bear with me, okay?
Anyhoo! This guy! He was probably one of the best-looking pure Malay guy I've seen in KL. Usually, the good-looking ones are either mixed or... some sort. But this decent guy, probably in his early 20's, he's in Medical school (like ohmyfuckinghotokay *hyperventilates*), that's why he's dressed ties and slacks and such. I thought he was a really young lecturer, but no, he's a student at UM. Our conversation didn't last long, as it was a short ride. We exchanged information such as name, hometown, education etc. The usual. A nice bloke, nice enough to hitch me a ride.
So that's it, my unprecedented experience. This was my first time where a complete stranger helped me out in this nature. In a friendly, non-sexual manner of course.. Teehee. I visited the fair, met my friend who was working there, and went wondering around the place. I bought Love Letters of Great Men for half price. Yay!
It may be a little lonely to travel alone, but it's not entirely that bad. At the end of the day, it gives me this contentment that I've done something on my own, and I don't need to depend on someone. Sometimes in life, you won't always have that companion with you throughout time right? You just have to sail alone.. And in most occasions, I do.
That's the end to what I believe will be the high point of my week. May seem like nothing to some, but hey, I ain't a socialgoer, so do pardon me at what I call 'small sparks of happiness'. The small awesome things in life that puts a smile in your face. I'm grateful for that, even if it's only for that few hours.
