The small things in life. How do you look at them?
Recently, I had an epiphany of certain things in life that I had to review. Some were painful thoughts that linger at the back of my head, and some were just small recollections that reminded me of things that once mattered to me.
You know, they say that the more you ponder about something, even though the chances of it happening isn't that much in reality, but because of our immense thoughts, they might come true one day? So in that case, how does one stop from thinking too much of the unnecessary, small details? Or, how do you even define and classify these trivial matters? And yet again, how are you sure that these aren't the trivial matters that would make some sort of footprint in our lives? How do you know for sure about the little things in life?
Every single day, events take place. I was in Starbucks today. While I was scanning through the menu, thinking of what to order, I glanced at something that brought memories to me. It reminded me of someone, I smiled, because despite what happened, the bond was so strong till I can't seem to forget. Yes, some may be bad memories, but these memories formed the path of life. My life.
I know of some people that take small things as, well, small things in life. I have to say, if every small detail bothered us, I would have a hell of a life. In a bad way. But it's in my nature. My bloodstream. Flowing through every inch of my body.
But then again, some small things really cheers a person up. For instance, random shoutouts. When someone writes on my Facebook Wall, exclaiming my name and that they miss me, I feel touched by it. How lovely it is to receive morning wake up calls, or random late night text messages. To know that someone is thinking of you, out there, somewhere.
I treasure things. My possession matters to me, not because of the price, or the aesthetic value, but the sentimental value it carries. Even though some relationships, platonic or romantic, may have pushed the daisies, but these small recollections reminded me of the past. That I was once thought of, I meant a certain thing to them. Bygones should be bygones, but it's good to know that I was in the mind of someone, just like how they were to me, even till now. The small things in life. How do you take them?
Small things mean a lot. They may not mean much to you, or you, or you you you, but they do to me. Don't take things for granted. Treasure what you have now. Don't ponder too much about the past. Or the future. Enjoy the present; what we have now. If you are contented with life as it is, don't question things.
Life can actually be good. Let's savour ze moment!
