The Rough Patch (and gettin' over it)

I have been going through a rough patch. It's been ongoing for almost a month. I would say that this is the worst whirlwind by far this year but I'm slowly getting by. Due to many many reasons, I have just given up on certain things, shutting down certain emotions. Sometimes, things just can't go the way you want it to be, can they?

It's been over a month since I last blogged. Believe me, so much has happened. So much to express that goes beyond words. I broke down many times the past few weeks which makes me seek comfort in those I believe who would be able to help. Some extended a hand, some didn't. It drives me crazy, when you really need a listening ear, and no one is there. Not asking for much, just some companionship. Reasons of all sorts were given, some valid, some were just not that well-crafted, but heck.

It's been a really crazy couple of weeks. I would say despite all the commotion, being extremely broke and pouring Niagara Falls now and then, there were some pretty good times. Not to mention road trips and trying new things! How I crave for yerh!

There was another session of studio photoshoot. Cristena shot me as a crazy and mentally unsound bitch. And I have to say, I really like some of the shots! The one before is one example. Here's another one, will upload some (not all, some are too explicit :P) on Facebook.

It's not all books and revisions for our course. At least, we have an outlet for escapism and creative flow. Despite what some may think of Mass Communication as a piece of cake, and all we do is to shoot photos all round, baby doll, you are so wrong. Photography alone is not a walk in the park, owning a DSLR doesn't make you a photographer. Certain skills are required, and the creativity needed to produce our work. Plus, Mass Comm is beyond Photography. We study about mass media, some business & marketing and a tad bit on design as well as software development. Hence, it is not that easy as it sounds.

It's Week 10 of college already. And as more semester comes, the subjects obviously gets tougher. And even so, I have yet to counter my procrastination and laziness. Assignments are piled up,  and the calender is filled with submission dates and reminders for quizzes, tests, replacement classes yada yada. For over four semesters thus far, I never seem to learn my lesson. Such bad habits; delays and hesitation.

But then again, despite my last minute work due to this procrastination business, I have to say, sometimes, I can be a rockstar. And this is why I never learn, but before you go on, I'm going to be a bit braggy. Bear with me, or you can always opt to exit the Britangelot page.

Anyhow, back to procrastination! My tendency to do assignments last minute, study last minute, do anything academic-related last minute, is a well-known fact among my collegemates. Case in point, my latest advertising project. Although it's only 5% out of the total rubrics, I spent so much time researching, editing, squeezing brainjuices for it. I sacrificed sleep, and most of my time spent in Ipoh that weekend. However, I managed to complete a proposal, edited the radio and television commercial scripts (so proud of myself muahahha) in less than 24 hours. A big fraction of my time was spent on unnecessary Googling and research (not entirely useless though, some are good and fun facts). And only the final 24 hours, I actually pulled up my socks to finish them. Did them through the whole Sunday, midnight, and only getting two hours of sleep. Waking up the next morning to catch my morning train, and finally completing it at 7.30am Monday 4th July 2011. And all this while multi-tasking; trying not to annoy my seat-neighbour, finish the document, and watching My Sister's Keeper at the same time. And the outcome of the assignment was quite well, so yay us!

I would say compared to the previous one, I'm slightly more free now. There are many more assignments to go, and right now, my priority is to finish them. And also look for side-income. What's fast money? *nudge nudge*

It's 1.04am, and I'm hungry. My no rice-eating diet didn't work out, although I tried to cut down on rice intake. Do we Asians really have to eat rice every single day?! I have grown bigger, not taller, bigger, ever since last year. Even though I don't like that fact (come on, who likes to be fat?), but I'm gym-ing more often now, I can feel some muscles. HAHAHHA. Who am I kidding? Cards on the table, yes I've gained weight. Fuck you for pointing it out, I can't see for myself issit?!

Don't mind me, I've been really easily-aggravated these days. Like I said before, reasons aplenty. To deal with such, I'm currently stuffing myself with Subway sandwiches. It's a fad for now in Angelyn's world. :)

Random recollections from the past few weeks:
  • Attended KBU Rave 2. Sucks ass. The Revolving Realm was a much better event. Us ftw!

  • Got meself a new phone! Sony Ericsson Xperia X8! My android phone - now I'm on the go and at all hot spots. Dream come true. However, this only happened because my mini Neonode phone emo-ed. One day, it wiped out all my contacts, message and call logs. FML.
  • Attended a book-reading back in Ipoh. A few writers were invited, namely Muhammad Haji Salleh, famed for his poem Si Tenggang's Homecoming (found in English Literature for Secondary Schools). A very nice man in person. He read some poems and spoke on the power of languages that breaks barriers. I coined this lovely phrase from him,
"We must write with the language of our hearts".

Beautiful.
And of course, the one my sister and I anticipated; Patrick Teoh! Yesh, the famous broadcaster, the Voice of Malaysia, the blogger of Niamah, he was there to read from his recently-published work Teohlogy. Great, fun guy. Would love to meet him again. Admire his writings.

     Ipoh people ftw!

    & NIAMAH TO MOOD-SPOILERS!

    Peace.
